Castile-La Mancha

The Castilla - La Mancha scenery is characterised by vast plains and known for its fabulous historical towns of Toledo and Cuenca, both listed UNESCO World Heritage sites. It is particularly famous for the stories of Don Quichote. Follow in his footsteps and take the “Don Quichote Route”, a tourist route along white windmills and historic places where he used to fight his battles in the novels. Follow this route from your cottage in Castilla and learn more about Don Quichote.

The cottages Castilla - La Mancha offer a cultural holiday

Castilla - La Mancha has much more to offer though! With interesting museums, such as the ceramics and archaeological museums in Toledo, its wonderful cuisine – including specialities such as wine, Manchego (sheep’s) cheese and garlic soup (Sopa de Ajos) – this region is a definite must for those who appreciate the Spanish inland. From your cottage in this region you are always close to a castle, the heritage of its Jewish, Christian, and Moresque occupiers. Most date back to the 9th to 12th century and are definitely well worth a visit.

Cottages Castilla -La Mancha, a green holiday

The holiday homes in Castilla - La Mancha are near three of the most important natural parks of the entire Iberian Peninsula. Tablas de Damiel and Lagunas de Ruidera, two wetland areas of great ecological importance, and Cabañeros, a Mediterranean forest area. Those parks are surrounded by spectacular highlands: the olive orchards in Alcarria, the limestone cliffs of Cuenca, and the mountain peaks of Sierra de Alcaraz. Two rivers run through the parks - the Tagus and the Guadiana.
