Because East Flanders has improved and developed its network; from the end of June 2006 the new cycling network of the Leiestreek, the Meetjesland and the Flemish Ardennes will be ready, all in all 1800 kilometres cycling paths. Stop on the way in a village or visit one of the museums. And when you get home you will enjoy a local beer on your own terrace of your cottage in East Flanders!

If you want to go for the water this summer, you can kayak, canoe or water-ski in this region, or make a boat trip on the Leie, the Scheldt or one of the canals.

Ghent, the capital of East Flanders, is more than worth a visit! This welcoming cultural city with its historical centre offers varied events, museums and places of interest. Think of the Sint-Baaf cathedral (with the famous painting ‘The Adoration of the Lamb'), the Sint-Nicholas church, the Belfort and the Gravensteen. Medieval times are still visible in many old house fronts, for example on the magnificent guild houses on the Gras- and Korenlei. Here too you can take a boat trip on Ghent's waters. Of course you can shop in Ghent and there are restaurants in abundance. The Patershol is great in the evenings. Walk through the narrow streets and find yourself a cosy restaurant.
