Lowlands
The Lowlands of Slovakia are the area to the south of the large mountain chains, such as the Tatra area. Many cottages are beautifully located in the mountains, but they can also be found in the Lowlands. Slovakia becomes more and more popular with holidaymakers. Nature and tranquillity fans will surely find their ideal cottage in the Lowlands or the Carpathians!

The Lowlands offer you large low mountain ranges such as the Slovakian Ore Mountains and the Carpathian Mountains. The Slovakian Ore Mountains, located in the south near Banksá Bystrica, have old mine galleries and vast forests. Previously gold, silver and iron were mined here, but times have changed. There is very little industry now, and, in contrast, it is now a place for relaxing. From your cottage in the Lowlands you will discover the fabulous scenery, its beautiful, and in the valleys there are small villages from times long gone by. There are quite a few hikers in this area. The cottages in the Lowlands are usually located on a walking route. In Banská Stiavnica you can visit a mining museum to get a feel for how it must have been in old times.

The Carpathian Mountains are situated in the west of Slovakia, near the border with the Czech Republic. It is a low mountain range with peaks up to 900 m. It is rocky and green, and there are many vineyards in the area. The city of Trencín is also worth a visit, if only for its castle, various museums and a nice market square. You can go hiking and bicycling in the valleys of the White Carpathians, all in nice, very green surroundings. Youll discover real Slovakian villages, with old loam (clay) houses and water mills. You can make gorgeous trips through this green area from your cottage in the Carpathians.
The eastern part of Slovakia is an area untouched by time, with pristine landscapes and forgotten villages. Tourism is not very developed here, and youll meet very few other foreigners .
