Holiday homes in the Giant mountains
The National Park of Krkonoe, also known as the Giant Mountains, is the highest mountain range in the Czech Republic; the Sněka its highest peak (1602m). Apart from Prague, this mountain range is one of the most popular tourist areas of the Czech Republic, thanks to its extensive forests and many opportunities for sports activities, and it is becoming more and more popular with the Dutch. Some of the most popular holiday centres are pindlerův Mlýn, Pec pod Sněkou, Janské Láznĕ (also a health resort), Vrchlabi, and Harrachov (also known as the gateway to the mountain range).
Mountain hikers may enjoy a network of marked routes along waterfalls, streams, mountain lakes, glacier valleys, and vistas. In summer, too, you can reach the mountain peaks from various holiday centres by cable lift and chair lifts. A gondola lift will take you from Janské Láznĕ, for example, to the mountain peak of "Cerna Hora", and from Pec pod Sněkou you can take the chair lift to the highest point of Sněka.
