Untertauern is located just outside Radstadt on the way to the popular ski area of Obertauern, a top-class ski area with over 100 kilometers of well-maintained and easily accessible slopes (15 km away by car). Directly nearby is the Reiteralm, a smaller ski area with 32 kilometers of slopes, ideal for beginner skiers. Untertauern is centrally located between the large ski areas of Obertauern, Flachau/Wagrain & St. Johann - Alpendorf (Snow Space Salzburg with 210 kilometers of slopes spread over 12 peaks and 5 valleys) and Schladming - Dachstein (4-mountain ski area with a total of 123 kilometers of slopes). The Untertauern swimming lake is located in the Untertauern Wildlife and Leisure Park, for refreshing cooling on hot summer days.
