The modern, sunny ski resort of lAlpe dHuez (also called the Grandes Rousses Massif) has a snow guarantee thanks to its altitude at the highest point at Pic Blanc (3,330 m.). The winter sports resort also has 700 snow canons. It has a surface of 10,000 hectares and includes five ski resorts: Alpe d'Huez, Villard-Reculas, Auris, Oz and Vaujany. These resorts have a total of 240 km of ski runs.
There are ski runs at all levels of difficulty. Of interest to experienced skiers: The Sarenne-piste (16 km), the longest black ski run in the world, which begins at the Pic Blanc Glacier is located here.
As well as snowboarding and cross-country skiing, you can pursue various different activities such as night skiing and sledging, torchlight descents, curling, skating and winter walking. There is also a heated outdoor swimming pool and a large indoor sports centre with at least 26 sports activities. The ice cave (2,700 m, accessible via the Grandes Rousses DMC lift) is also worth visiting.
