3000 hours of sun a year, diverse scenery, gorgeous natural areas, broad sandy beaches, rocky beaches, and quiet fishing villages characterise the Costa Almería. Here you could explore the tourist towns of Roquetas de Mar, with many facilities (such as a huge outdoor sports area), and Carboneras, with its long palm beaches and a lively marina. The white village of Mojácar is an ideal holiday spot, with beaches, entertainment venues, and sports facilities.

Cottages on the Costa Almería, discover the inland!

More inland lies the characteristic village of Níjar, which is also worth a visit. This village is known for its Jarapas (large blankets made of cotton or wool) that are normally used as carpets, curtains, or decoration.

The capital of Almería is situated on the coast and has many monuments. These include the famous Alcazaba (the largest Arab building in Spain after the Alhambra), the cathedral, and the historical harbour. At night you could have dinner in one of the many restaurants along the promenade. Nature and walking enthusiasts could go to the popular mountain area of ‘Sierra de Alhamilla’, not far from the town.

To the Wild West from your cottage on the Costa Almería

If you would like to experience the Wild West, make an outing to the Tabernas Desert from your cottage on the Costa Almería. This special desert scenery has been the backdrop for famous Western films. You could visit the Western village of Mini-Hollywood, with its horses, cowboys, and saloon fights.

Holiday homes Costa Almería, an excursion to various nature areas

The natural area of Karst in Yesos de Sorbas, the world’s largest karst area, is home to important and magnificent limestone caves and galleries. Not far away is the natural park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar, with numerous cliffs and secluded bays. Walking trails have been set out in this natural park, and you could also take guided tours by jeep here. If you need to cool off, you could stop at Cale de San Pedro, where you will find the only freshwater source of the whole nature park.

The ‘Reserva de las Salinas’ is also situated nearby, which is a breeding ground for numerous birds, including the flamingo. You could watch them from the special watchtowers. Choose from the many holiday homes on the Costa Almería, from luxury villas to a cosy farmhouse inland.
