Tavarnelle di Pesa is a small village with a central market square in an area that has a lot to offer. The name of Tavernelle is derived from tavarne which means inns. There used to be a lot of inns here because the village was right on the trading route between Florence and Rome, both beautiful cities. Visit Florence, at only 30 km. With its many museums and high-quality architecture, this town is a joy to behold.
The Chianti region is full of good wine. Take the car and drive to San Gimignano (20 km) for example. You'll drive through a breathtaking, typically Tuscan landscape of sloping hills, vineyards and cypresses. San Gimignano itself is a beautiful, historic town with its city towers still intact.

Also visit the beautiful monastery in Badia a Passignano (9 km). This looks like a large castle. The vineyards around it belong to Antinori Résidence. The winery is so large that they even have a wine museum.

The oldest golf club in Italy, Castelfalfi with 27 holes, is less than an hour away by car. The road towards it, past the residence, is beautiful in itself! Looking for even more athletic activities? At 6 km there is an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts and you could go horse riding. Or go cycling or walking in the beautiful hills; there are several routes.
