Chalet on Texel at Den Hoorn

At Vakantiepark Loodsmansduin you'll find yourself staying in the middle of nature between the heather covered dunes. It is located in the Dunes National Park of Texel, on the less touristy south side of this island, next to the age old village of Den Hoorn. The lovely beach is around 2 km away, so you can easily reach it by bike.

The centre of Vakantiepark Loodsmansduin was thoroughly renovated in 2016. It now fits well in the Texel landscape. You will never be bored. There is an outdoor swimming pool (open from approx. 16/05 to 01/09), various play facilities, one with an air trampoline, and a restaurant with a nice terrace where you can enjoy a snack and/or a drink. It's of course possible to stop at the restaurant during the day and in the evening for a complete meal or a cup of coffee with a snack or a nice drink. If you order in advance, you can also get your daily fresh sandwiches in the restaurant. Near the reception you will find the recreation room. Various fun activities are organised by the recreation team. You have free super fast WiFi via fibre optics throughout the holiday park.

But there is also more than enough to do in the area. Texel is a well-arranged island that is ideal for exploring by bicycle. Starting in Den Hoorn, beautiful cycling routes run across the entire island. The cycle route network is comprised of no less than 170 km of bicycle paths. You can determine your route yourself via 57 so-called "hubs". If you are in for a bit more adventure by bike, there is a mountain biking trail about 3km away that is highly recommended. Via the various paths through the dunes you can easily reach the beach by bike or (long) walk. Here you can enjoy the sun, swim in the sea, romp in the sand and much more. If you are more an active beach visitor, you can rent 9 sturdy beach bikes or surf and/or SUP (Stand Up Paddle) boards at the kiosk at Paal.

The atmospheric village of Den Hoorn is a village that is characterised by beautiful facades. In the 17th and 18th centuries the Dutch trade fleets crossed the world seas and a new source of income emerged in Den Hoorn; piloting ships. In 1783, 1805 ships were piloted at Texel. There are possibilities to do your shopping or to go out for a delicious meal, for example at the Klif 12 theatre restaurant or the Michelin star restaurant “Bij Jef”. You can also visit the other villages on Texel, Ecomare (10 km.), The Paracentrum Texel (14 km.), Nature reserve De Slufter (18 km.) or you can go shrimp fishing or seal watching from the harbour in Oudeschild (9.5 km.). One of the great advantages of Den Hoorn; from the ferry port Het Horntje (5.5 km.), you can reach your destination in just 10 minutes; the island of Texel has it all.
