Résidence Pont du Gard has a large outdoor pool (open from April to September, weather permitting). The spa offers a sauna, hammam and jacuzzi (only accessible to guests 18 and over, reservation required). You will also find various athletic fields at the residence. Want more action? Rent a bike to explore the area. Various activities are also organised (high season, July and August) for guests of all ages. For example, there is a mini club for kids between the ages of 4 and 12 and activities are organised for youths. There are also events for the whole family, such as games, tastings and markets.
There is a lot to see in the area. For instance, the residence is just 200 metres from the famed Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct on the UNESCO World Heritage list. The countryside is great for cycling, hiking and picnicking. The Gardon River flows under the Pont du Gard and has carved out a deep ravine over the centuries, now better known as les Gorges du Gardon (3 km). There are many hikes to choose from around the Gorges du Gardon and you can even rent a canoe to explore the beautiful area from the river. Not far from the residence is the town of Uzès (14 km), the First Duchy of France, with a castle and narrow medieval streets. There are many old Roman towns in the area, where you will find castles, ruins and other remnants of ancient Rome. These include Avignon (26 km), which is certainly worth a visit with its high city wall and historic centre. The city wall is also on the UNESCO World Heritage list. And don't forget to visit the Papal Palace. Nîmes (31 km) also offers many memories of ancient Rome with its arena, inspired by the Colosseum in Rome, and the Maison Carrée, one of the best preserved Roman temples. In Arles (63 km) there is plenty to see as well, such as the remains of the Roman amphitheatre. The city of Montpellier (83 km) is another great destination with its historic city centre, narrow streets, little shops and many attractions, which include the Arceaux (a Roman style aqueduct) and the triumphal arch, the Arc de Triomphe le Peyrou. And don't forget the beautiful Camargue nature preserve (87 km). Home to many animals such as flamingos and white Camargue horses, this preserve is known not only for its great natural beauty but also as one of Europe's most important salt harvesting centres.
