The Sumava mountain area or the Bohemian Woods in the southwest region of the Czech Republic is the perfect destination for a memorable winter sports holiday in beautiful natural surroundings. Sumava has a number of ski resorts: Lipno-Kramolín, Spicak-Zelezna-Ruda, Zadov-Churánov, Horní Vltavice, Kasperské Hory and Nové Hute.
Get acquainted with the Lipno-Kramolín ski resort (Southern Bohemia), located near the Lipno reservoir, from the comfort of a winter sports chalet. If you are a novice skier or are on holiday with young children, the Lipno-Kramolín is the perfect destination. The well-groomed slopes are ideal for beginning and intermediate skiers (blue and red categories, total of 7.5 km) and are equipped with snow canons. There is a modern Snow Park for snowboarders (one of the largest in the Czech Republic) and an 800 m snow-cross slope. For children ages 3 and up, there is the Foxpark Kapitein Lipanka children's skiing area, the largest practice skiing area in the Czech Republic, with 3 magic carpets (conveyors), slaloms, children's carousel, music and a heated play area/nursery. There are also great tracks for cross-country skiers, including a 40-km route between Lipno Nad Vltavou and Frymburk. Looking for an activity besides snowboarding, downhill or cross-country skiing? From December to March Lipno Lake is frozen, transforming it into an 11 km (free) skating rink! In Lipno, both children and adults can relax at Aquaworld Lipno, a water park with a swimming pool, water rides, sauna and massage facilities. In a nutshell, you and your family can enjoy a relaxing winter sports holiday from the comfort of your own chalet or holiday home!
Spicak - Zelezna Ruda is the most popular and largest ski resort in the Sumava region and is located close to the German border. This woody, quiet ski resort (altitude of 860-1202 m) is also ideal for beginning skiers and children, although it also offers plenty of challenges for more advanced skiers. There are 11 lifts, a practice area, 12 blue and 4 red category slopes and, for daredevils, a black slope. You will also find a Snow Park here, with various double pipes, a cross-country track and the perfect opportunity to try snow tubing! The après-ski scene is a little on the quiet side, but this is not usually the reason people go on a winter sports holiday in the Czech Republic. Enjoy a winter sports holiday in Sumava from the comfort of a holiday home or chalet in the Zelezna Ruda area.
In a word, there are plenty of possibilities in Sumava. So enjoy a winter sports holiday in Sumava/Bohemian Woods from the comfort of a holiday home or chalet!
