Holidays on Mallorca, decidedly active, or totally relaxed

During a holiday on Mallorca, you can enjoy the Spanish sun in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, on the largest island of the Balearic Islands. With its wonderful climate, Mallorca is very popular among sun worshippers. Mallorca has mild winters with temperatures of up to 20 degrees. In the summer it is sunny and warm, and temperatures even rise above 35 degrees. This means Mallorca can offer you a pleasant holiday all year round, even if the best months are May, June and September. Would you like to enjoy the sun, sea and beach during your holiday? Take a look at our offer of holiday homes by the sea, and enjoy a wonderful holiday on Mallorca. Besides the long coastline, the island offers so much more for an active or relaxing stay.

Something for everyone on Mallorca

Your holiday home on Mallorca is easy to reach. Are you flying to Mallorca (a flight of less than three hours), or taking a ferry from Barcelona, Valencia or Denia? It is no coincidence that the Spanish island has been one of the most popular holiday destinations in Spain - and even Europe - for many years. Mallorca has 581 kilometres of coastline, and on this coastline there are numerous holiday homes by the sea. With a pleasant climate, miles of sandy beaches, an azure blue sea and numerous fun seaside resorts, parents with young children in particular like to come here. However, the region is also very popular among young people with its many places to go out.

Vamos a la playa! The beautiful, bustling capital Palma de Mallorca has its own beach, Playa de Mallorca. The typical Spanish city is worth the trip in itself, with its cathedral, imposing castle, narrow streets and cosy tapas bars. On both sides, you will find beautiful seaside resorts with long boulevards, such as Palma Nova, Santa Ponça, El Arenal, Playa de Palma and Ca'n Pastilla. The seaside resort of Alcùdia is the most popular for families with children. In the seaside resorts you can enjoy white sandy beaches with overhanging palm trees, impressive limestone cliffs and always the crystal clear sea... A sight to behold.

Unleash your creativity on Mallorca

Not such a beach lover? Of course, you can also relax in a holiday home with a swimming pool. A holiday home or flat on Mallorca is the perfect base from which to explore the island. You can rent a car and discover the diverse landscapes on your own, but a boat trip or jeep safari is also possible.

From the capital Palma de Mallorca, a wooden train will take you to the harbour of Port de Sóller. The train, which has faithfully followed the same 27 kilometre route for more than a century, offers an original alternative. The drive through the Sierra De Tramuntana runs along old citrus plantations, and through thirteen tunnels. A tip for those who take this train ride: be sure to visit Fornalutx, one of the most beautiful villages in Spain.

Many cycling enthusiasts find their way to Mallorca because of the beautiful cycling routes the island has to offer. You can rent very good bikes, so you don't have to bring your own bike on the plane. The Spanish island has a varied landscape. Large parts of Mallorca are quite flat, but you can also climb in the rugged hinterland. The Cap De Formentor is a tough challenge. Finally, hikers can also enjoy the extensive walking network.

Mallorca; eating, drinking and spotting celebrities

There is nothing more relaxing than to enjoy a snack and a drink on the terrace of your own holiday home with a swimming pool. Mallorca is also known as the Spanish island with delicious culinary delights. Be sure to try the Ensaïmada, a kind of coffee cake with lard, which is baked all over the Balearic Islands. In the seaside resorts, as well as scattered throughout the island, there are restaurants and bars where you can taste local specialties such as espingado and sabramadas. Rabbit and suckling pig stew are two local classics, simple dishes but tastefully and lovingly prepared. The delicious local wines complement the menu perfectly.

Who knows, celebrities like Boris Becker might sit down at a table next to you. Because they too love the relaxed way of life on the island. During the day, you can meet them on one of the beautiful golf courses, such as the Arabella Golf Mallorca (54 holes), the Pula Golf or the Santa Posa Golf (45 holes).

Highlights on Mallorca you can't miss

A holiday on Mallorca is not complete without some must sees. Your holiday home in Mallorca is the ideal starting point to visit the most beautiful gems. Mallorca's most famous landmark is without a doubt the beautiful cathedral, 'La Seu', in the bustling capital Palma de Mallorca. The cathedral dates from the 13th century and its construction took 300 years. There is a lot to do in the rest of the city too. In the Palau de l'Ammudania, a Moorish residence, Spanish history takes place before your eyes on Flemish tapestries. In the barrio Portella, you can visit the Arab baths and old city palaces. Take a look inside the old fortress Castell de Bellver, and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.

In 15 minutes, you can walk to the station on Plaza de España. Here you can take the wooden train that will take you to Port de Sóller. Sóller is situated in a valley between the mountain ranges of the Sierra de Alfabia, the Puig de L'Ofre and the Puig Major. The terrace cultures of olives and citrus fruits that were once planted here by the Arabs, are also worth a visit. The island is also famous for its stalactite caves. The caves of Drach and Ham can be found at Porto Christo. This quiet fishing village has a romantic harbour and beautiful views.

Are you more of a nature lover? Ses Salines, the southernmost point, has vast salt pans where seabirds breed and where flamingos often stay. The S'Albufera marshy lagoon is a succession of lakes, reed beds and woodland thickets. The marsh harrier and the peregrine falcon feel right at home here.
