Zell am Ziller (altitude 580 meters) is a charming ski resort, located in the heart of the Zillertal. The village boasts a longstanding tradition in tourism. The centre has a charming square surrounded by small shops, cafés and restaurants. Because it is not possible to ski right down into the village, the après-ski fun can be found near the base lodge, which has a few convivial bars. This is not the place to be for a lively après ski scene. Partygoers are therefore advised to take the bus to Mayrhofen. Because of its reputation as a quiet village, Zell am Ziller is especially popular with families with children. Our accommodations in Zell am Ziller (and surrounding hamlets such as Gerlosberg and Hainzenberg) comprise ski chalets as well as group accommodation for up to 15 people. Ideal for the whole family! Leisure centre Freizeitpark Zell is the place to be for a game of tennis, bowling, curling and ice skating on the artificial ice rink.
Zell am Ziller is the gateway to the fantastic Zillertal Arena, one of the largest and most popular skiing areas in Austria, with 166 km of excellently groomed slopes, mostly red category runs, and 51 modern lifts. This family-friendly paradise offers not only slopes and ski and snowboarding schools, but also a children’s snow park on Rosenalm, a 7 km-long natural bobsled run (Hainzenberg), and a 14 km -long cross-country track. Both young and old will enjoy a wild ride on the Arena Coaster, the first Alpine roller coaster, a 1450 m-long toboggan run on rails! Instead of spending a day on skis, you can also go on a ‘snow walk’ or cross-country tour through the beautiful winter wonderland. Cross-country skiers have a choice of three routes covering 14 km of tracks in total. You can also put your name down for guided snow-shoe walks, ski tours, paragliding, and lama tours through the Schwarzachtal in Gerlos. Enjoy all the fun of a winter sports holiday from a chalet in Zell!
