Mittersill (789 m) is a small town in the Pinzgau area and Hohe Tauern National Park. It is also the location of the visitor’s centre for the park as well as the medieval Mittersill castle. Mittersill is a relatively unknown winter sports destination, but has plenty to offer. There is not much in the way of an après-ski scene, but the town has a number of inviting bars and restaurants for every taste. For all-weather activities, you will find an indoor adventure pool, indoor tennis/squash, workout facilities, skittle alley, sauna, Turkish bath, massage and solarium at the Sporthotel Kogler in Mittersill. The visitor’s centre for the national park, with its unique Alpine experience display, is well worth a visit. Guided snowshoe tours, winter walks and ski tours are organised in the national park from the visitor’s centre in Mittersill. Cross-country skiers can enjoy the beautiful 22 km-long scenic Hochmoor-Panoramaloipe track on the Paß Thurn (at the middle station of the Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen). The track is partly lit and affords breathtaking views of the Hohe Tauern mountain range. There is also a smaller track closer to town, the 3 km-long illuminated Blizzard track from Mittersill. The village has a skating rink and you can race down a 2.5 km-long illuminated toboggan run in Hollersbach. Experience a memorable winter sports holiday while staying in a holiday home or ski chalet in Mittersill.
