The town of Kaltenbach (altitude of 558 m) is a popular winter sports destination in the Zillertal Valley, thanks to its central location in relation to the Ski-Optimial Hochfügen-Hochzillertal skiing area (1500-2500 metres), with 171 km of slopes, 37 lifts and gondolas. The base lodge for the two gondolas to the ski resort is located in Kaltenbach! This town may not be the most charming or traditional, but it has the necessary facilities, including a ski school, shops, restaurants and après-ski bars!
